Public awareness is important to increase enthusiasm and support, stimulate self-mobilisation and action, and mobilise local knowledge and resources. Raising political awareness is essential as policy makers are key actors who can realise climate change adaptation and mitigation actions at local level. Awareness raising activities require the implementation of effective communication strategies to reach the desired outcome.
