The new platform provides easy access to a selection of up-to-date and reliable tools to guide authorities through every stage of their adaptation efforts, from initial planning to full-scale implementation.
The database currently features 11 carefully selected tools, tailored to help local and regional adaptation managers choose the most appropriate solutions for their specific needs. These tools are categorized by factors such as climate hazards, stages of adaptation, and the user’s level of expertise, ensuring that the tools available are well-suited to different regions and development phases.
“The database does the hard work for users, filtering out outdated or irrelevant tools so that authorities can focus on what works best for their situation,” said Guido Schmidt from the Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt), the team behind the development of the database.
Key Tools Featured in the Database Include:
• TransformAr Playbook: A resource for organizing dynamic workshops on adaptation pathways, engaging participants in exploring both incremental and transformational climate adaptation solutions.
• DERRIS Climate Risk Self-Assessment Tool: A tool that raises climate risk awareness among local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and supports them in adapting to climate change.
• Aqueduct’s Water Risk Atlas: A free, open-source tool that provides global maps highlighting water-related risks, such as floods and droughts, to help users identify and prioritize vulnerable areas and improve water resource management practices.
The database is set to grow, incorporating new tools from European research and innovation projects, as well as national and private sector developments. Mission Projects are encouraged to contact the MIP4Adapt team via their Helpdesk to explore how they can contribute tools to this growing platform.
